About Sounding Line

Built for enduring relationships

Sounding Line is designed as a durable private-client firm: senior attention, documented decisions, independent custody, and a clear lead relationship for every family.

Experience behind the firm

Private wealth perspective. Institutional investing discipline.

Before founding Sounding Line, Cooper Taylor advised high-net-worth families at an established registered investment adviser and evaluated private-equity and venture-capital investments at the University of Michigan Investment Office. His earlier NFL career shaped a standard of preparation, discipline, and accountability that still defines the firm.

I started Sounding Line to build the advisory firm I would want my own family to hire: one that understands the full picture, gives direct advice, and stays involved when decisions move from a plan into real life.

Before founding Sounding Line, I advised high-net-worth families at Salem Investment Counselors and evaluated private-equity and venture-capital investments for the University of Michigan’s endowment. My earlier NFL career with the New York Giants shaped the preparation, composure, and accountability I bring to the work.

I believe advice should be clear enough to question and practical enough to act on. Clients should understand the tradeoffs behind a recommendation, know who is responsible for carrying it forward, and never wonder whether a product or sales incentive is influencing the answer.

I remain accountable for each client relationship, supported by a documented service structure and the outside professionals each situation requires. The firm is designed to add capability deliberately without losing continuity, judgment, or personal responsibility.
